Trust the Journey:
"Jesus at the Wheel"
Rev. Jackson B. Powers
July 7, 2023

I know what it feels like when you feel as though you've been metaphorically stuffed in the trunk of a car, blindfolded and shaken around with every turn and bump in the road. I know what it feels like when you feel spiritually disoriented and helpless. But let me assure you, Jesus is at the wheel. I know it's hard to see, but that same Jesus who calmed the storm is in control of your journey.

In Isaiah 41:10, God assures us, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." I do believe God is directing your path - every turn, every start, every stop - even though it might seem chaotic and unpredictable to you right now.

There are times in our lives when we feel like we are in the dark, confined and jostled around in the trunk of a car. We can't see where we are going, and we feel every bump on the road as a shock to our systems. But just as a driver navigates the car, we have to trust that Jesus, our Divine Driver, knows exactly where we're heading. Even though it's dark in the trunk, the driver's seat is filled with light and the road ahead is visible. Jesus sees the roadblocks, potholes, and detours, and he navigates them with perfect precision.

Remember the words in Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." These bumps, these twists and turns are not without purpose. The road you're on is leading you to a place of growth, a place of new beginnings. You may not see it now, but in time, you will look back and see how these trials shaped you and brought you closer to Him.

Just like a baby in a mother's womb, you might not understand the encompassing darkness and the constant movement. But the mother, just like Jesus, is always around, protecting, nurturing, and leading you to a place of birth and renewal. The mother knows the journey may be uncomfortable for her baby, but she also knows it's necessary for the baby's growth and development.

Know this: the journey you're on is not endless. Just as a journey in a car has a destination, so does your current struggle. The trunk will open, the light will flood in, and you will find yourself in a place you never imagined - a place of growth and fulfillment, a place where you can say with certainty that the journey, as difficult as it was, was worth every moment.
You will come out stronger, wiser, and over-all better for it.

Until then, hold on to His promises. Trust in His divine navigation.
Keep faith that Jesus is at the wheel, and He is leading you on the perfect path for you.

May God continue to bless and guide you through your journey.
